Alexander Hamilton Art Cube

Hamilton's term as Secretary of the Treasury (1789-1795) was marked by bold innovation and planning. A Federalist, he argued consistently for a strong central government and ratification of the Constitution. Writing 51 out of 85 essays, he made the largest single contribution to the authorship of the Federalist Papers. With his Report on Public Credit, Hamilton created a milestone in American financial history that marked the end of an era of bankruptcy and repudiation. He conceived the first bank of the United States, successfully argued for a standard form of currency, and founded both the Bank of New York and The New-York Evening Post. Mortally wounded in a duel with Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton died in New York City the following day, July 12, 1804 and was interred in Trinity Churchyard.
