
Martin Johnson Heades exotic 1872 painting Study of an Orchid inspired the design of these delightfully playful earrings. Martin Johnson Heade (1819-1904), who produced magnificent studies of tropical flowers, was one of a group of painters developing a distinctly American vision of the landscape. Their powerful interpretations of American scenery came to be known as The Hudson River School.
