About this item

The New-York Historical Society and Oppenheimer Editions are pleased to present for your pleasure a new print edition of this Hudson River School painting, as it has never been seen before. This museum-authorized edition is limited to only 200 stunning prints. Each is hand embossed and numbered, and stamped on the verso with the signature of the president of the Historical Society.

The Hudson River School emerged during the second quarter of the 19th-century in New York City, when a group of artists forged the first self-consciously American landscape vision, embracing the natural world as a source of spiritual renewal and as an expression of national identity. Their works constituted the nation's first homegrown art; they initially painted views along the Hudson River and its environs, and later expanded to the newly opened West and beyond. The New-York Historical Society's collection of Hudson River School paintings holds some of the nation's great treasures of the period.

Available in the following sizes:
Standard 26.75" x 43" for $2500
Large 37" x 60" for $3000
