About this item

This silk tie is created by French atelier Brochier Soieries and features the 1894 work, Mahana No Atua (Day of the God), by Paul Gauguin (1848-1903, French). Gauguin styled himself and his art as ''savage,'' pioneered the Symbolist art movement and set the stage for Fauvism and Expressionism. Fourteen works by Gauguin were exhibited in the 1913 Armory Show.
