Among John James Audubon's (1785-1851) hundreds of innovative watercolor paintings, this Great Egret is the one of the most iconic. He made 474 watercolors, 435 as models for the engraved plates of the Havell edition of The Birds of America (1827-38) that we've celebrated in our Audubon's Aviary exhibition. To accompany the show, we've produced this durable tote depicting the Great Egret (Ardea alba) (c. 1831).
