About this item

The silhouette of two cherished landmarks have been lovingly crafted in polished sterling silver to create this striking ring. Created by New York jewelry designer Cynthia Gale for the New-York Historical Society, the ring is part of the Museum's new jewelry collection titled The City that Never Sleeps. Inspired by the remarkable photography of Irving Browning, this jewelry celebrates Browning's soulful documentation of New York City.

This landmark ring features the Empire State and Chrysler buildings and is rendered in a high-polished sterling silver. Ring face measures 1" x 0.4". Band measures 2.2" in diameter, and has an open, adjustable back.

A self taught photographer and cinematographer, Irving Browning (1895-1961) is celebrated today as a master documentarian of the heart of New York City. The New-York Historical Society's Browning collection consists of 1,885 gelatin silver photographic prints, as well as ephemera relating to Browning's career as a photographer and cinematographer. Images date from 1918 to 1952.
